about us
Who we are? We're a funky lil neighbourhood wine bar in the Kelburn village. Our aim is to offer delicious wines with thoughtful and ethically focused bites in a relaxed local setting. We strive to make as little impact on our enviroment as possible and offer an experience that will make you feel good about your decision to spend your evening, afternoon, week, month, or even your year with us.
Low WasteWe are passionate about reducing waste in the hospitality industry. Where possible we use refillable containers and when we can’t, we work with suppliers to reduce packaging. We recycle everything that we can. We do not offer take away containers. We get creative in the kitchen and bar to reduce food waste and the rest is composted. We have reusable cloth napkins and hand towels for our customers. We have a 120L wheelie bin for general waste which we've had collected 4 times in 2023 (or the equivilent to nearly half an average kiwis amount of yearly waste) and as we find more ways to reduce our waste we empty less and less often. Being low waste or zero waste is an ever changing goal that we strive for no mater how small of fight it may seem.
Buying LocalWe celebrate NZ produce throughout our menu and drinks lists. Our wines and spirits are 100% NZ made. We only use NZ grown produce and sustainable seafood. We see value in supporting local food producers and growing our food community around us. Foraging the wild herbs and flowers around us gives our menu a unique sense of place.
Slow Fish MovementWe work directly with local fishermen who either spear catch, hand dive, or single line catch all the fish, paua, or crayfish on our menu. We only use oysters and mussels that have been responsibly farmed. We see value in supporting those who are looking after our oceans for future generations.
Buying Second HandMost of Graze was sourced second hand. The fridges, oven, light shades, furniture, tiles, artwork and even the front door. All of our plates and cocktail glasses were found in second hand stores and garage sales. All table tops, bar tops and shelving are made with reclaimed wood and all upholstery was sewn from recycled jeans.
